Summary
Robert's Walk, from Daniel Eskin and Dan Gerson, is beautifully shot and edited. This black-and-white film, featuring a well-dressed, bowler-hatted gentleman wandering through a forest, is notable for its formidable formal beauty, though it might (if only by the most delicate allusion) revive interest in the neglected Swiss modernist writer Robert Walser. Protection by Danishka Esterhazy continues that filmmaker's fascination with female archetypes, as two sisters (both played by Heather Sagmeister) play out -- and deconstruct -- blond/brunette, good-girl/bad-girl images.
