"Because we've expressed interest in knowing more about their plans in the past and a desire to be considered in whatever plans they might have, we were invited with some other cities to go and... explain to the executive committee how our market might fit into whatever plans they're contemplating," [Mark Chipman] said Friday. "I think the (NHL is) just beginning to contemplate the possibility of expansion and I think they want to know what's out there.

"There's lots of opinion on various markets," Chipman reported. "But we're not getting calls from NHL markets that are saying, 'We'd like to talk to you about moving to yours.' "

"The conversation wasn't about how much (for expansion fees or potential revenue of a Winnipeg team)," [Jim Ludlow] noted. "We weren't there to negotiate."
