A national Statistics Canada study on how Canadians handle hazardous household waste confirms that Manitoba could be the poster province for not knowing what to do with four kinds of waste: obsolete computers, leftover paint, expired medicine and dead batteries. Hazardous waste, including everything from nail polish remover to antifreeze, contains potentially dangerous chemicals that can leach into the soil and groundwater if thrown away with regular waste.
