"Frank," I said, "if you're a Mason, how come you're telling me about their rituals? I thought all that stuff was a deep, dark secret."

"When I went through my Entered Apprentice initiation ritual," he said, "I had to swear an oath never to reveal any of the "arts, parts or points of the hidden mysteries of Ancient Freemasonry." I had to make that promise under no less a penalty than having my "throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea at low water mark.'"
