"I don't care about Montreal at all," [Doug Berry] told reporters yesterday. "I just care about us. And for us to get a win... I really don't care whose expense it's at. We need wins.

"Against Montreal that would be good in that they have the same amount of wins as we do," Berry added. "Other than that, I'm not looking or using as any motivation, 'Let's try to tag Montreal with its seventh loss in a row.' That's not important to me."

As well it shouldn't. And there's no reason to believe that Berry has even considered for a moment the tenuous state of [Don Matthews]' employment. But that doesn't mean that Berry and his troops can't have a direct affect on the Als' future plans, either.
