"I saw many young people in [Thompson] who have made the healthy lifestyle choice to become trappers," explained [Bob Carmichael]. "They have given up an easier life in town in order to continue the culture of the fur trade. I wish everyone could see the pride evident in the eyes of these people who are very aware of just how vibrant and important the fur trade is. The skill, dedication, and knowledge that it takes to be a successful trapper is simply awesome."
Carmichael described the great local music that is played at these events and noted that the TFT is a "must do" event for all local dignitaries from the mayor, to the MLA and MP. A highlight, according to Carmichael, was fur dresser extraordinaire, Phil Patchin from Porcupine Plain, Sask., who's always at the TFT providing tips and hints on fur preparation.Tradition Continues at the Thompson Fur Table
