"We lost everything you need to run a national team," Adam Crockatt, Hockey Canada manager of the men's national sledge hockey team, said in a telephone interview from his Calgary office. Sledge hockey is ice hockey for participants with a physical disability.

"The driver of the first semi got out of the cab and tried to assist the other driver," said [Dick Vlaming]. The 58-year-old man smashed the other driver's window and the cab was full of smoke, said Vlaming. The man couldn't see inside and was feeling around for the driver, who had already escaped through the passenger door with his partner, who had been sleeping in the back.

"I thought the guys in the second one would've been dead on impact," [Tyler Noble] said. "They must've been going very fast. I figured there's no way the driver could've survived."
