Vale and the United Steelworkers have raised more than a half a million dollars for the United Way Sudbury-Nipissing.
Vale announced in a Jan. 10 press release a joint funding initiative had netted $550,000 for the non-profit organization.
"This donation to the United Way will go a long way in supporting many important programs that support those in need in our community," said Stuart Harshaw, vice-president of Vale's Ontario Operations, in the release.
"Our employees' generosity and continued support for the community is something we are very proud of."
Vale matches 50 cents to every dollar employees donate to the United Way Sudbury and Nipissing District. Employees can contribute via a payroll deduction program or in lump sum payments.
