"There's a lot of adrenaline flowing. It's exciting as hell, I can't deny that," he said. "I'm excited to get out there and work for the people of St. Charles."

Before polls closed, she told the Free Press she didn't know if she would run again since she's "not even taking it day-by-day, but hour-by-hour," but her campaign "went extremely well."

She is unsure if she'll run again in four years, when she will be 60 since campaigning "puts a lot of wear and tear on the body, mind and family life," she said. "It's a big toll."
