If it doesn't happen to [Tessa], it will surely happen to one of her friends. So [JESS Derksen] used The Bully, A Discussion and Activity Story by local author Rita Toews to start discussions with Tessa.

She's not just talking about the bully. She's also referring to the victims, who don't want to appear weak before their friends, and those friends who might want to distance themselves lest they, too, become a target.

"Most bullying goes unreported," says Toews. And largely unobserved. Bullies save their misconduct for times when adults aren't around.
