We need to recover our Catholic culture.

"God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.... For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him. But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who belong to his company experience it."--Wisdom 1: 13-15; 2: 23-24. Culture has been defined as the pattern of beliefs, values, and behaviours of society. In light of this definition, the historical evolution of the culture of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries is certainly worth our consideration. Pope John Paul II laid great emphasis on the role of culture. He stated that "culture, not politics or economics, is the driving force of history." (1) He also stated that "the inner tissue of contemporary society must be continually regenerated, culture being understood as a conscious mentality, as convictions and actions, as the social structures that support it." He also noted the impact of culture on "not only the behaviour of individuals but also legislative and political decisions, which in turn facilitate cultural trends, which unfortunately, often impede the authentic renewal of society."
