Her top dozen art students were offered a challenging special project -- they extensively interviewed seniors at Kiwanis Courts, then browsed used bookstores for old hardcover books which they transformed with memorabilia from the senior's life. "Whatever we did had to be meaningful, and had to have a big impact when we were finished," [Patti Fernie] said. During the interviews, "They honed onto something that kind of tweaked for them."

"This has been a delightful experience talking to these young people," [Edith Pindar] said. "I loved to sing, so I'm glad she found my music book" and added it to the exhibit.

"I thought it was a wonderful idea to bring the community into an art gallery," said gallery co-owner Sarah Johnston. "I think it's neat."
