The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ honoured five business heroes of the city's core at a meeting this week, and unveiled a new logo to promote the downtown area.

Michael Schafer, who owns and works as executive chef at Sydney's Fine Dining at The Forks, was named young entrepreneur of the year, while Cassiopeia's Bridal Boutique owner Julia Land won acclaim for running the best new small business.
