Wesdome Gold Mines has picked up some prospective properties in the Shebandowan area, near Thunder Bay.

The gold miner announced April 7 that it struck an agreement with Canoe Mining Ventures allowing Wesdome to acquire the Coldstream Project, a former producing mine, and the Hamlin-Deaty Creek Property, 100 kilometres west of the city.

The properties are adjacent to Wesdome's Moss Lake properties located in the Shebandowan Greenstone Belt.

The company said recent studies indicate many showings and deposits in the area are likely part of an extensive iron ore, copper and gold mineralized system.

"The Coldstream Project is adjacent to our Moss Lake gold project and has evidenced some early prospective results," said Wesdome president-CEO Roily Uloth in a statement. "This strategic acquisition of land gives us additional exploration opportunity to expand the 3 million ounces deposit at our Moss Lake property".
