Summary
Our group tried an epicurean activity put on by Gail Hall's Seasoned Solutions' Loft Cooking. It's a refreshing holiday alternative. If your husband is like mine, you'd never entice him to cook on vacation (mine doesn't even do it at home). This class is geared to those who enjoy learning while tasting items from Alberta's 100 mile diet. It was one of my trip's highlights. And that's not just because we started sampling wine at noon.
Perhaps you don't belong to the it's-five-o'clock-somewhere club. Should that be the case, Old Strathcona (also known as Whyte Avenue) can still whet your vacation appetite. The Saturday farmers' market is chock full of vendors encouraging you to sample local foods and handmade crafts. It's also home to the second largest fringe festival in the world (Edinburgh hosts the largest). If your gal pals are similar to my group they'll like to investigate where the locals spend their free time. If so, Kensington Village is the spot. The Calgary Herald's Reader's Choice Award anointed this location "Calgary's No. 1 shopping district seven years running."See the full content of this document
