World Women's Championship

Summary

It's theirs -- the title as reigning world women's hockey champions -- and the United States is not about to surrender the crown without a good scrap.

* The IIHF uses the three-point system in the championship round -- three points for a win, two for a shoot-out victory and one for a shoot-out loss -- and the Americans now have four points after Sunday's victory and Saturday's shootout loss to Canada.

With the sporting world a tad distracted Sunday -- the Masters golf tournament was in the final round and the New York Islanders' win eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs from the NHL playoffs -- the Swedes got four-point performances from Joa Elfsberg and Maria Rooth in the slaughter.
