Since this time, students have been hit with a double whammy - rapid tuition increases coupled with soaring enrolment rates - meaning that students have paid more for a degree that is, for the most part, worth less (in terms of salary) than it once was. Employment statistics indicate that a bachelor's degree alone isn't enough to be competitive in many sectors, and today's youth are pursuing higher education at graduate/professional schools in unprecedented numbers.
