About the Author
 .  practises criminal law at the trial and appellate levels and has
appeared as counsel before all levels of courts in Ontario, as well as in other
provinces, and in the Supreme Court of Canada. He is certied by the Law
Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Crimi nal Litigation and was the rst
Chairman of the Criminal Litigation Specialty Committee. In , Mr. Gold
was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers. He received the G.
Arthur Martin Award for Contribution to Criminal Justice in November, .
He is a past President of the Ontario Criminal Lawyers’ Association. Mr. Gold
is a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He has written and edited
numerous works dealing with criminal law, and is a regular speaker at confer-
ences and media commentator. e rst edition of Expert Evidence in Criminal
Law: e Scientic Approach was awarded the  Walter Owen Book Prize,
awarded by the Foundation for Legal Research to the author of a book which
represents an outstanding new contribution to Canadian legal literature.
