Acknowledgements
Since my retirement from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto
over ten years ago, I have encountered many people who contributed
to the eventual publication of this book. My colleagues f rom the Toxi-
cology Section, including Dr Rob Langi lle and Dr Daryl Mayers, have
provided valuable insights, as did the former direc tor of the CFS and my
mentor, Dr Doug Lucas.
Rob Langille recently retired from the Centre of Forensic Sciences
and kindly volunteered to write the Foreword to this book. Hopefully
we will see more of each other and have more joint projects now that he
is retired.
I have not seen much of my other valued colleagues and forensic
toxicologists at the Centre of Forensic Sciences, such as Betty Chow,
Karen Woodall, Teri Martin, a nd J-P Palmentier, since it moved from its
downtown location at Yonge and Wellesley to its new location at Keele
and Wilson in the northwest part of Toronto.
Another former colleague at the Centre of Forensic Sciences, Chris
House, who is now in Ottawa with the RCMP forensic laboratory system,
has assisted great ly in obtaining cannabis studies to include in th is book.
Senior crown attorneys James Palang io and Phil Perlmutter have
been great at advising me of the new changes to Ca nada’s law on canna-
bis and impaired driv ing, and we have had many good lunches together.
Jef‌f Teitelbaum, MLIS, of the Forensic Laboratory Services Bureau
of the Washington State Patrol, has been a consta nt over my many years
of retirement and provided an invaluable service to me and numerous
