benef‌it from the f‌inancial means of both spouses after separation;

(b) to reduce conf‌lict a nd tension between spouses by m aking the calcu lation of child sup-

port orders more objective;

(c) to improve t he ef‌f‌iciency of the lega l process by giving court s and spouses guidance in

setting t he levels of child support orders and encour aging settlement; and

(d) to ensure consistent t reatment of spouses and ch ildren who are i n simila r circum-

stances.
