Bombardier Thunder Bay lands Metrolinx order.

Bombardier's passenger rail coach plant in Thunder Bay is fattening up the order book.

Bombardier Transportation announced Aug. 2 that Metrolinx, the transit provider for the Greater Toronto Area, is exercising its options for the purchase of 125 more BiLevel commuter coaches for GO Transit in Toronto. It's a $428-million order with production at the Thunder Bay shop scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2018. Final delivery is expected in the first part of 2020.

The BiLevel coach is Bombardier's popular double-deck commuter rail car. More than 1,300 are in service with 14 transit authorities across North America.
