La plupart des Canadiens férus d'histoire connaissent les Célèbres cinq, ces cinq Albertaines dont la pétition adressée en 1927 à la Cour suprême du Canada (l'affaire << personne >>) a mené à la reconnaissance des femmes en tant que personnes aux yeux de la loi. Le quintette victorieux, soit les militantes Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise Crummy McKinney, Emily Murphy et Irene Parlby, est devenu une figure emblématique de la défense des droits des femmes. Or, moins nombreux sont les Canadiens qui connaissent le pendant prince-édouardien des << Célèbres cinq >>, à savoir les cinq femmes qui, en 1993, ont accédé à cinq postes clés au sein de l'administration provinciale de l'Îledu-Prince-Edouard. C'était alors la première fois que les femmes atteignaient un tel niveau de représentation dans une administration canadienne.

Indépendamment de l'apport de ses consoeurs, les autres Célèbres cinq des temps modernes, l'honorable Catherine Callbeck aura marqué l'année 1993 en réalisant une percée historique.
