CROSH receives cash boost from province: Sudbury-based health and safety research centre receives five years of funding to support core projects.

A Sudbury-based health and safety research centre is getting support from the Ontario government in its ongoing efforts to make Northern Ontario workplaces safer.

A news release stated the Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH) at Laurentian University will receive funding from the Ontario Government over the next five years.

The centre will receive approximately $290,000 in 2018-19 and then $550,000 annually for the next four years to support CROSH's core operations. Those operations include:

* Engaging workers and industries in remote and rural Northern Ontario communities and promoting a strong health and safety culture

* Helping small businesses get involved in CROSH's scientific committees

* Developing collaborative partnerships with industry
