The following databases are of no less quality than LEXISNEXIS Quick-law or Westlaw Canada but are discussed separately in part because their focus tends to be narrower on Canadian content.

1) CCH Online (www cch.ca)

CCH Canada is part of the Wolters Kluwer group, a large international publisher. Prior to the advent of online resources, CCH Canada was known for its black looseleaf binders on various legal topics containing relevant case law, legislation, and commentary. The content of these binders are also available on CCH Online, an Internet-based subscription service provided by CCH for many types of information, including tax, law, and human resources (this content is also available on DVD). The CCH Legal library includes coverage for alternative dispute resolution (ADR), business law, environmental law, family law, health law, estate law, insurance law, real estate law, securities law, and international law. The CCH Tax library includes various databases regarding federal and provincial income tax and the GST. The CCH Business library covers employment and labour law, health and safety law, and pension benefits.

CCH also provides excellent legislative and "bill-tracking" options for Canadian federal and provincial legislation through a separate CCH LEGISLATIVEPULSE database (which requires a subscription) at http://pulse.cch.ca.

2) Canada Law Book/ BESTCASE (www canadalawbook.ca)

Canada Law Book - the oldest legal publisher in Canada - has remained independent of the other three major Canadian legal publishers (Thomson Reuters, LEXISNEXIS Canada, and CCH Canada). Although it has had a number of CD-ROM and Internet products for some time now (e.g., the Canada Statute Service and the Dominion Law Reports Plus), it is the recent launch of BESTCASE by Canada Law Book that has raised its profile as a potential third alternative to LEXISNEXIS Quicklaw and Westlaw Canada.
