Enrolment doubles at Algoma U's Brampton campus.

Algoma University welcomed a record number of new students at its campus in Brampton during the 2019 fall intake.

In a news release, the Sault-based school said 572 students are currently enrolled at the Brampton site, which is more than double the enrolment from last fall.

The majority of students are pursuing degrees and graduate certificates within the School of Business and Economics, but 66 students are also studying information technology.

"The enrolment growth experienced at our Brampton campus has far exceeded our expectations, so we are very pleased to bring someone with extensive senior leadership experience to our growing team to help move forward program diversification, faculty and staff hiring, and facility expansion efforts," said Asima Vezina, president and vice-chancellor, in a news release.
