FAMILY LAW
This is an immense area of the law that crosses a large number of subtopics. It is also an area
of very active litigation, mediation, and research. Its major subtopics include marriage, di-
vorce, children, child custody, and division of family assets, inter alia. Some of these areas are
federal in scope, such as divorce, by way of the Divorce Act, and some aspects of marriage, by
way of the Marriage (Prohibited Degrees) Act, but most facets of this area remain provincial in
scope. Related topics: ADOPTION, CHILDREN AND THE LAW, DIVORCE, TAXATION.
FAMILLE
Branche principale du droit civil, le droit de la famille inclut les questions de donation, du
patrimoine familial et de son partage en cas de DIVORCE et de séparation. Certains auteurs y
ajoutent la personne.
