More than $1 million in federal funding is going into the construction of an industrial park in Matachewan.
The northeastern Ontario township received $1,067,500 from FedNor for its proposed 37-acre development, next to Highway 66.
The new 11-lot business park will accommodate commercial and light industrial tenants.
The funding is earmarked to allow the construction of a 1,080-metre road, storm sewer and water main extensions, and the installation of three-phase electrical service and fire hydrants.
In September 2015, the township received $1 million in provincial funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund for the industrial park.
The small northeastern Ontario township is located at the end of Highway 66 in the Timiskaming district.
It's 60 kilometres west of Kirkland Lake and is the home of Alamos Gold's Young Davidson Mine.
