Goldcorp reports fatality at Musselwhite Mine.

A scoop operator died in November following an incident at Goldcorp's Musselwhite Mine northwest of Thunder Bay.

In a release, Goldcorp said a scoop operator was working underground early on Nov. 26 when an "unexpected fall of ground" occurred. Although first responders were dispatched to initiate search and rescue operations, the scoop was "completely covered" in material, resulting in the fatality, the company said.

"We are all deeply saddened by this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the individual's family, friends and colleagues," Goldcorp CEO Chuck Jeannes said in the release.
