Divorce - Corollary relief - Maintenance awards - Lump sum - A husband and wife were married in September, 1961 and divorced in November, 1973 - During the marriage the wife discharged her household duties and worked as a farm hand to enable the husband to buy land - For approximately ten years the husband had full time employment elsewhere, so the wife did almost all the farming herself - The husband and wife were awarded custody of one child each - The wife applied to have her maintenance order changed from periodic payments to a lump sum - The Alberta Court of Queen's Bench allowed the wife's application and awarded her an amount equal to one half of the value of the land.
