LANGUAGE LAW
In a nation that is off‌icially bilingual, language is naturally an area of frequent research and
occasional litigation. Off‌icial bilingualism is only the case federally, via the Off‌icial Languages
Act and in the province of New Brunswick (Off‌icial Languages Act). The off‌icial language of
Québec is French, whereas it is English in the remaining eight provinces and three territor-
ies. Language rights are also articulated in the Charter and it is under the Charter that most
language litigation arises. Related topics: CONSTITUTIONAL LAW, HUMAN RIGHTS AND
THE CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS.
LANGUE
ment dite, bilinguisme, terminologie juridique, etc.
