NAFTA (NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT)

Canada is signator to a number of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, but none is as

signif‌icant as the North American Free Trade Agreement between Canada, the United States of

America, and Mexico. NAFTA was an extension of an earlier bilateral treaty between Canada and

the U.S. (known simply as “The Free Trade Agreement”). As Canada is very much an exporting

nation (and a huge percentage of its export trade is with the United States), this is an extremely

important pact with an enormous effect upon Canada’s economy. As this trade pact involves two

other countries, there are non-Canadian titles worthy of inclusion. Related topics: COMMER-
