La dernière session avant la dissolution prévue en septembre 2021 s'est tenue du 9 au 16 septembre 2021.
Trois projets de loi ont reçu la sanction royale durant la dernière session avant la dissolution prévue en septembre 2021 :
* Projet de loi 55, Loi modifiant la Loi sur l'évaluation et l'impôt fonciers;
* Projet de loi 75, Loi modifiant la Loi sur les poursuites par procédure sommaire;
* Projet de loi 77, Loi no 2 de 2021-2022 sur les crédits supplémentaires (immobilisations).
En tout, 81 projets de loi ont été présentés à la 5e législature, dont 77 ont obtenu la sanction royale.

La 5e législature a été dissoute le 19 septembre 2021. Le directeur général des élections a délivré les brefs d'élection le 20 septembre 2021.
Certains députés ont décidé de ne pas se représenter : Paul Quassa (Aggu), Allan Rumbolt (Baie d'Hudson), Pat Angnakak (IqaluitNiaqunnguu), Elisapee Sheutiapik (Iqaluit-Sinaa) et Pauloosie Keyootak (Uqqummiut).
