An order respecting expenses under section 7 of the Federal Child Support Guidelines need not specify periodic payments. Unlike ongoing weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basic child support payments, expenses under section 7 may be isolated, sporadic, or recurring at irregular intervals. The court may decline to fix a specific amount of money to meet designated expenses; it may simply order that all or a fixed percentage of past, present, or future expenses shall be paid after a proper account has been submitted to the obligor,173although such an order may present some difficulty in circumstances wherein automatic enforcement processes are invoked to ensure due compliance with the order. of the Federal Child Support Guidelines, the court may require expenses to be discharged by periodic payments or by a lump sum or by a combination of both.
