Summary:
The accused was convicted of two counts of indecently assaulting two teenaged girls in his foster care in 1979 and 1981. The accused was also convicted of three counts of sexually assaulting his daughter-in-law in 1993.
The Nova Scotia Supreme Court sentenced the accused to a total of three years' imprisonment.

Sentence - Sexual assault - The now 50 year old accused was convicted of indecently assaulting two teenaged girls in his foster care in 1979 and 1981 - Assaults involved repeatedly inserting his fingers in their vagina and repeated fondling - Both were threatened with reform school if they told - Gross breach of trust - The accused was also convicted of three counts of sexually assaulting his daughter-in-law in her own home - Within a three day period in 1993, the accused physically tried to have sexual intercourse with his daughter-in-law - She resisted his force with force - He was persistent and verbally abusive - Accused successful in inserting his fingers into her vagina - No prior record - The Nova Scotia Supreme Court sentenced the accused to a total of three years' imprisonment, being eight months for each indecent assault, six months for one sexual assault, 14 months for another (all consecutive) and 14 months concurrent for the last sexual assault.
