Summary:

The 44 year old female alcoholic accused pleaded guilty to two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving while disqualified and leaving the scene of an accident without leaving her name and address or offering assistance.

The Alberta Court of Queen's Bench sentenced the accused to 30 days' imprisonment for driving while disqualified and 30 days' (consecutive) for leaving the accident scene. Upon completion of those sentences, the accused was to serve 22 month conditional sentences (concurrent with each other) for the two impaired driving causing bodily harm convictions. Conditions included 24 hour house arrest, community service, abstention from alcohol and drugs and the taking of recommended treatment. The court imposed a five year driving prohibition.
