Scope Environmental law is governed by federal and provincial legislation. Examples include the federal Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, S.C. 1992, c. 37, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, S.C. 1999, c. 33, and the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. E-12. Environmental law is heavily regulated in Canada and first-time researchers should ensure they have not overlooked any applicable statute or regulation.
