An economic geologist with more than 30 years of experience in minerals exploration, analysis, and management, he established Activation Laboratories (Actlabs) in 1987, offering contract analytical services to the mining, petroleum, life sciences, environmental, forensic, materials testing and agricultural sectors.

Previously, he was managing director of Nuclear Activation Services where he established the first commercial neutron activation laboratory as a partnership with McMaster University and a commercial laboratory.
