ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Eileen E. Gillese, B.A., B.C.L. (Oxon) is a justice of the Court of Appeal

for Ontario. She was appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice

in January 1999. Prior to that appointment, Justice Gillese served as

Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at t he University of Western

Ontario where she taught Administrative Law, Property, Trusts, Wills,

and Pension Law. She was appointed a member of the Pension Com-

mission of Ontario in 1988, served as its Vice Chair from 1989 to 1993,

and Chair from 1994 to 1996. Justice Gillese was Ch air of the Financial

Services Comm ission and the Financi al Service s Tribunal in 1998.

Martha Milczynski, B.A., LLB., is a prothonotar y with the Federal

Court of Canada. She was appointed in September, 2003. Prior to that

appointment, Madame Milcz ynski was a p artner with Bl ake, Cassels

& Graydon LLP in Toronto, practising in the Pensions & Tax group

with the f‌irm, specializing in pensions a nd benef‌its, trusts, f‌iduciary,

and administ rative law. She was also Chair of the Fin ancial Ser vices

Commission of Ontario and the Financial Ser vices Tribunal from 1999

to 2003.
