North Bay council hopes to avoid a fight in dealing with an Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) appeal over a planning bylaw it unknowingly passed last October.
The Downtown Village Community Development Inc. is taking the city to the OMB because of a bylaw approved in October which could lead to 74,000 square feet of commercial space being developed on McKeown Avenue.
Some downtown merchants feel threatened that if the McKeown proposal were developed, it would add commercial space equivalent to half of the downtown shopping...
