The movement of Western grain through the Port of Thunder Bay is boosting the number of saltwater vessels through the harbour this fall.

In a Nov. 2 release, the Thunder Bay Port Authority said a total of 22 "sallies" have called on the port since the beginning of September. October's total of 12 salties is the most the port has been in a single month since 2007. By the end of October, more saltwater vessels visited the port (54) than during the entire 2011 navigation season (40).
