FedNor officials will cut the ribbon this month on a new satellite office to better serve clients in the Nipissing region.

The new office was scheduled to open in North Bay in late January at Canada Place, once renovations to the former RCMP headquarters on Sherif Street, are complete.

"We've have lots of work in that area," says Carmen DeMarco, FedNor's North Central Ontario manager, of the more than 100 active cases in that area now administered out of the Sudbury regional office.

"It's the only large urban area we don't have an office in. Over time because of the volume of projects it's getting more difficult to service the area. We spend more time travelling than we do in the area, so this'll keep us closer to our clients."

It is the fourth FedNor satellite office in Northern Ontario after Timmins, Kenora and Parry Sound. Regional offices are located in Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.

The North Bay office will serve as an administrative organization for four community future development offices over a jurisdiction covering Kirkland Lake, New Liskeard, North Bay and West Nipissing.

Four people will be on staff including three field officers and one clerical personnel.
