Inco investigaters in Sudbury are looking into a fire which occurred Feb. 20 during the commissioning of the new copper anode refining building at its Copper Cliff smelter.

The fire, estimated to have caused $2 to $3 million (US) in damages, will result in a drop-off of 2.5 to 3.5 million pounds of planned copper production.

The existing copper anode casting furnace at Copper Cliff remains in production until the new facilities can be brought online.
