By hiring a Sudbury consulting firm to carry out a feasibility study, the Mississauga First Nation has taken the first step to acquiring a sawmill.

BDO Dunwoody in Sudbury will assess the benefits a sawmill will have for the reserve; which currently has only an outdated, non-functioning sawmill The existing unit is old and hasn't been operational in about a decade. The Mississauga First Nation chief visited a sawmill in Sudbury that an area firm is hoping to sell. Officials say it would be difficult to move the sawmill in Sudbury to the site of the First Nations' current unit because of its size. A site for the sawmill has yet to be decided.
