FOREWORD
Jeff
Berryman
has
written
an
excellent text that will
be of
very great
value
to
Judges, Lawyers
and
Students.
This
book
is
extremely well
organized
and
written with commendable clarity.
It
provided
an
instructive
and
interesting weekend
of
reading
for me.
There
can be no
doubt that
we are
very much part
of a
global econ-
omy. More
and
more Canadians
are
transacting internationally.
The
importance
of
interim injunctions
in
commercial matters
is
recognized
in
this book. What must
be
established
is set out
clearly
and in
logical
order. Similarly
the
relatively recent arrival
of
Mareva
injunctions
is
well
set
out. They have
an
obvious significance
to all
those doing business
in
other countries. Their history
and the
requirements which applicants
must
satisfy
are
carefully
reviewed. Similarly Anton
Filler
injunctions
and
their
importance
in
relation
to
documents
are
carefully
considered.
Injunctive
relief will
be
sought with ever increasing
frequency
as
Canadians extend their international business activities. This text with
its
scholarly historical review
is
presented with
an
excellent mixture
of
academic
learning
and
orderly pragmatism.
It
will
be an
invaluable
resource
for all
members
of the
profession.
I
have stressed
the
chapters dealing with injunctions because they
are
so
very important
and
topical.
Yet
there
are
other aspect
of
equita-
ble
relief such
as
specific performance that
are set out
with
the
same
orderly clarity that makes this book such
a
delight
to
read.
It
will
be a
cherished addition
to
every legal library.

Honourable Peter Cory, Q.C.
