Bot Construction is ready to drop the hammer this month on a new highway bridge over the Nipigon River in northwestern Ontario.

It's part of the government's larger project to widen a 104-kilometre stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between Thunder Bay and Nipigon.

Oakville-based Bot was awarded the $106-million contract for the bridge structure which will be completed sometime in 2017.

The four-lane, cable-supported bridge and walkway will be the first of its kind in the provincial highway system. Three towers with cables will support the bridge deck.
