Whitesand First Nation has signed a ground-breaking agreement with the province that allows for harvesting of more lumber from traditional territory.

The deal gives band members on the Armstrong-area reserve the right to harvest about one million cubic metres of timber over a five-year period.

The Forest Management Plan for the Armstrong forest allows the band to harvest 250,000 cubic metres per year. Chief Clifford Tibishkogijig says this is possibly the first Native community below...
