Hydro-electric projects could become a main source of economic self-sufficiency for Northern Ontario First Nations. Pic River First Nation Economic Development Officer Byron LeClaire is comparing the current surge in hydro projects as being akin to the gold rush of the previous centuries. Pic River, with two hydro stations already built and four more in the feasibility stage, hosted a conference recently to share its expertise with 30 First Nations across the province.
