Lakehead University is again ranked among the top research universities for undergraduates in Canada.

Re$earch Infosource, which released its annual rankings for Canada's Top 50 research universities, placed Lakehead second among Ontario's undergraduate universities, and third among Canada's undergraduate universities.

The rankings were based on calculations involving factors such as the total amount of sponsored research funding received by Lakehead, total research income per full-time faculty member, research outputs based oh total number of publications, publication intensity, and publication impact.

"Re$earch Infosource's recognition of Lakehead reaffirms the upward trend our university's research endeavours have been experiencing for years," said president and vice-chancellor Brian Stevenson in a statement.

"This trend is significant because of how much of a direct impact university research has on regional economic development by supporting local industry, training highly qualified personnel, and offering innovative products and services."
