Manitoulin Transport acquires Direct Right Cartage: Acquisition marks the company's first purchase of an intermodal company.

Manitoulin Transport has acquired Direct Right Cartage Inc. of Brampton, marking the seventh purchase by Manitoulin in the last 12 months and its first acquisition of an intermodal company.

Established in 1982, Direct Right Cartage serves a number of industries, including automotive, plastic, retail, packaged foods, and other general commodities. Headquartered in Brampton, Ont., Direct Right Cartage has locations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Montreal.

Its founders, John Farrugia and Paul Enright, will continue in their respective leadership roles.

"Customer demand is a key influencer in Manitoulin's business decisions and this latest transaction further demonstrates that we listen," said Jeff King, president at Manitoulin Transport, in a news release.
