A Quebec-based company is expanding its operations in northeastern Ontario. Tech/Pro is relocating its warehousing and the majority of its assembly work from Dorval to its Matheson location.

"We are looking to add two to three more people," said branch manager Alain Bouchard.

The small company has been in business for 22 years, but it branched out from its administrative headquarters in Dorval and leased a small warehouse and office space in South Porcupine a few years ago. Catering mostly to the mining industry, it sells customized valves to its clients throughout eastern Canada. However, in 2008, the company had outgrown its leased space.

"The economy picked up pretty fast and we had the opportunity to generate more work but the facility was too small," Bouchard said. "The owner of the building also wanted his space back since he was growing too."

Tech/Pro struggled for several months to find a new location and Bouchard said any available space was quickly purchased by other companies in the area who were also expanding.

"We found a place in Matheson and ended up buying," Bouchard said.
